Chikkumangu

Chikkumangu is a fun-filled entertaining story in Tamil, bringing out the wonders of puppetry and limitless imaginations to the young kids. We want to create a learning journey that is visually appealing to pre-school children.

About the Play

A digital Tamil musical performance, Chikkumangu, is specifically for the very young children. It is a story of two friends (a peacock and a horse) trying to put on a brave front to challenge the lion named Chikkumangu. Radin Mas is the narrator who asks the friends to strike a rapport with the lion. Eventually, the friends understand that Chikkumangu, despite the size, is a playful lion cub and means no harm.

The storyline of Chikkumangu is designed to be appealing with humorous interchange of dialogues and colourfully costumed characters in a magical world of fantasy which can hold the attention of the young children very easily. The story also implies how communication can be a key to solving many problems.

Chikkumangu is implemented with the concept of broadening a child’s perspective of the world and to instil language learning, arts and values even as they enjoy the performance. It is a portrayal of life through art that is sketched specifically for the young children. The play will be our ode to inter-cultural celebrations - a combination of musical theatre elements with Indian and Chinese traditional art techniques.
